Spotlight on… Love By Design Weddings

Styling your wedding venue so that it looks as beautiful as you’ve imagined can be pretty tricky. Scratch that, it can often be really stressful and hard work! In this fortnight’s ‘Spotlight on’ we meet a lady who can quite literally save your day – taking all the stress away and making sure your venue has the wow factor you were hoping for.

Meet Rachel Pertee – a local wedding venue dresser and wedding decoration designer who runs Love By Design Weddings. Based in Christchurch in Dorset, Rachel is a self-confessed perfectionist who specialises in transforming venues into stunning settings for your special day.

She’ll help you plan how you want your day to look – choosing a theme, colours, decorations – and then she’ll bring it all to life for you, taking care of every single and tiny detail.

This includes setting everything up on the day and also taking everything down again afterwards – something you (or your guests) most definitely won’t want to be worrying about at the end of the night!

Rachel told us: “After planning my own wedding and making and sourcing all the decorations, I was gutted to find out that I wouldn’t be able to decorate the venue myself, due to time constraints imposed by the venue. I am very much a perfectionist and for me to give up control of my vision to someone else was really hard!! It made me think about how many other brides to be also need help dressing their weddings. I’ve always loved interior design so it made perfect sense to me to launch Love By Design Weddings, providing prop and decoration hire as well as a full or partial wedding venue decoration service.”

Using her creativity and passion for weddings, Rachel prides herself on offering couples something truly unique on their wedding day.

But Rachel’s services go far beyond just venue dressing and set up. Whilst she has a wide range of beautiful decorations ready for you to hire, if you’re after something more unique then she can create bespoke, handmade decorations for you.

We particularly love these beautifully autumnal candle jars and wedding card crate handcrafted by Rachel…

So whether you’re just after some of her stunning handmade decorations or a full wedding venue dressing service, it’s well worth getting in touch with Rachel for a chat.

Rachel offers a free no obligation consultation at her home in Christchurch, or if you’d prefer to have the consultation at your wedding venue then it’s just £30 (which will be deducted from your final bill if you go ahead with a booking).

Rachel tells us…

We caught up with Rachel and found out a bit more about her and her love of weddings…

What do you love most about weddings?

What I love most about weddings is the excitement! I get just as excited as the couples I meet and love getting positive feedback from them on my ideas and work.

Tell us about your favourite wedding you’ve helped to decorate?

My favourite wedding which I’ve helped to decorate is the one I’ve just finished this weekend at Uplyme village hall, as I love rustic weddings and the challenge of getting over such a wedding looking all brown and white! We brought colour in using a selection of yellow, green, purple and white flowers, based on a theme of daisies, and used our rustic glass vases and jars to make beautiful centrepieces.

What’s your top tip for couples planning their wedding?

My top wedding tip is “use your budget wisely!” You don’t actually need to provide flip flops, favours, or fireworks, so use the money to invest in hiring a professional to create a beautiful venue instead!

What’s your favourite Dorset wedding venue?

My favourite Dorset wedding venue is anywhere I can let my creativity run wild! So I love barns, marquees, village halls and such like. Uplyme village hall was a fantastic space to work in.
